We honestly were planning another trip back to Ponca City and to Pawhuska to see the Pioneer woman again, when about 11:00 pm the night before Marla sent out a mass text... JoJo is having vendors in Waco at the Silos. Soooo... we all agreed... Heck Ya, we were going there. When I turned to my sweet husband to tell him, "plans have changed." He replied, "Oh Lord, what are the peaches gonna do now?"haha
I left Lindsay about 5:30 am, arrived in Hulen to pick up Marla around 6:30 (where she kept me waiting) and then on to Lisa's where we loaded up with her and headed to Waco Texas... Wish I hadn't stayed up all night the night before... It made for a long day, but man... it was fun!!! Remember, we are three teachers who have kids in college, so our budget was set for a couple of hundred dollars, and we took off!!! We arrived in Waco around 11 or so that morning... and OH my... It was so crowded.
We stood in lines for everything, but it was WORTH it!! The CUPCAKES alone is worth the drive people!!! Lisa stood in line for the store, Lori stood in line for the bathroom (she is so self involved), and Marla stood in line for cupcakes.. she bought 24 of them... We have to buy for all our kids... we bought the Lemon Lavender.. our favorites. lol We spent the day wandering around the silos and hoping to see Chip and Joanna Gaines, but some of those who worked at Magnolia said they were busy filming their new season... BOO for us!!
While Marla was waiting in line for the yummy cupcakes, I decided to try out some of the food trucks that were lined up all around. We decided on something we saw a woman eating, it was called Trash can rice with spicey pork and chicken, veggies on top, smothered in Ranch or Chipolte dressing... MAN! It was delish!!! Then it was time for that yummy cupcake!!!
We then jumped on the trolley that was free and went to see the sights of Waco.. SO much fun!! Yes, three peaches on a trolley!!!
I could have sworn I saw Austin Powers in town....
Once on the trolley we scooted around town....
We went to some antique shops and went to a place that was so cool... It was called Spice Village and it was great shopping! It's a must see...
We then jumped back on the trolley and headed to the old downtown part of Waco... We three peaches love to look at architecture and go into old buildings... Lori teaches history, Marla studied history, and Lisa is just old... so we all love to hear about it. The trolley conductor was full of information about the buildings and it's history.
We then went into a really neat old store called the Cameron Trading Co.... It was three stories of antiques and this is when Marla's true talents come out... We, along with other's in the store, were wowed and impressed that she actually performed the moonwalk...
It was time to jump back on the trolley and head back to the silos where we had parked... we had made a day of it... and we were pooped! It was time to say goodbye to the Silo's and to Waco... we headed for home!
As we headed out of Waco we went through a little town called West Texas. My mother told me we had to stop at a Babarian bakery there and get some goodies, unfortunately it was late and it was closed... ALL three of them they had in this small town. So we just drove around and enjoyed the beautiful old homes and history of Texas... I want an old home just like one of these, someday Lori .... someday!!!
We stopped in Ft. Worth and ate at one of our favorite places... Pappadeaux's... Ohhhh we spent more here on this one meal then we had the whole day, but it was fabulous!!
We were heading out of Ft. Worth when we realized that we needed to stop at our regular place. Buc-ee's.. If you have never been, you need to. It's the largest quick stop that I have ever been to. It's full of much much more than candy and soda pop... It's a fav of ours and we had to make a pit stop before leaving Texas for good.... Btw, Bucky Calfy is a boy from our hometown... just a little inside humor here!! WE LOVE BUC-EE'S
so we drove through the night arriving back at Lisa's around 12:30 pm. Marla and I loaded up into my car and I dropped her off and headed home to Lindsay.... Our trip was fast, and furious... BUT...SPRING BREAK was another success!! And we came home with money in our pockets... Now that makes our hubby's happy! So here we go... onto planning for the next Peaches Trip!
